Jesus Strategy for Kingdom Come

The life of Jesus was always eventful. Wherever He went amazing miracles seemed to happen. As we read the gospels we see that Jesus walked the country side sharing the good news of the Kingdom of God. He would preach, teach and perform miracles along the road, at parties, around the dinner table – basically wherever people were!

But this free flowing love fest was not without strategy. Jesus mentions this strategy in Matthew 10 and Luke 10 when He gives the 12 and the 72 Instructions for their upcoming mission trip. His strategy was actually quite simple. His followers were to search for prepared people of peace – that is, people happy to have a chat, and to host them. They were to stay in their homes, bless, heal, preach and train. Not only did Jesus want His followers doing this, He did it Himself.

In Mark 1:29-34 we read of Jesus going about His usual business. He gets invited to Simons Mother in Laws house, where Jesus finds her sick in bed with a fever. Jesus heals her, and she then makes them a meal. Later that evening this home turns into a mission base that hosts Jesus first healing crusade!

In Luke 19 we read of Jesus wondering around. He entered the town and received a word of knowledge about a man named Zacchaeus. He invited Himself over for dinner where He then proceeded to share the good news of the Kingdom. Zacchaeus repents and the community is in awe of his transformation.

Jesus Strategy for Kingdom Come was and is simply finding those who have been prepared by God. He spent time in their homes and shared the good news of the kingdom with them through stories, teaching and signs and wonders. But this strategy is not just for 2,000 years ago, it is also for today.
